I, (The fabulous Mz Berlin) Watched Auntie Mame. Good stuff. The costumes were fantastic. Makes me want to wear more hats. I have a huge collection of vintage hats that I’ve inherited from my mother. Some need new feathers. I should get on that.
I’ve finished one of my corsets for burning man. Did that this afternoon while watching the movie. I took an old red satin underbust and put fake rhinestones all over it. It looks pretty good. I did red and black stones. My next corset is a white satin underbust that I’m covering in clear. I was introduced to rhinestones by Natalie Minx, and now I can’t stop. I want to do one of my Sue Nice corsets in Swarovski, but it will take me a while to save up for and tackle that project.
Going home is always weird and emotional. It’s like stepping into the twilight zone for me. I love seeing the people that I grew up with, that I went to high school and college with and took crazy road trips with. It’s strange to know that the house I grew up in is occupied by another family now, but I just don’t drive by.
I saw a girl during my last visit and she happened to be in charge of organizing our next reunion. I think I’m actually looking forward to going. I wasn’t voted “best of” or “most funny” or any of that in high school. I was involved in the drama club and smoked outside the locker rooms, where my mother used to sneak cigarettes during her tenure there. I think it would be fun to see what happened to all of the people that I went to high school with.
K. I should probably get into bed. I have to be up by 6 tomorrow. I have a long day ahead of me. 10 hours of travel time, 48 hours of visit time and then another 10 hours of travel time.
