Wow. I have really sucked at this.
But I seem to excel at putting up posts telling you I suck for being a far too intermittent and neglectful blogger!
I have not been writing as much as I would like. I've been working my little daytime job and haven't made blogging as much of a priority. Not that things haven't been going on! The oil spill, LOST immigration laws in AZ, how freakin' hot Anderson Cooper is.... I could go on forever. And ever. Amen.
Here are the highlights. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think. About these topics or any others...

The oil spill makes me so sad. On so many levels. And I sort of hate to say it, but it's a prime example of a situation where you're just putting off paying the piper. Putting off paying the piper seems to be our long term solution for so many things. Oil, water, nuclear power...

LOST - ithinkthattheislandisthegamethatthefakemomgavethebrotherwhoisnotnamedJacob, orarepresentationthereof.

The new Arizona law is flawed, but it brings up questions that need to be discussed by us as a country. I don't see a problem with everyone being required to have identification on them. I carry my DL around. When I go overseas I have my passport and any necessary visas or paperwork with me. Why should our country be any different? Can we change the system so it can be more accessible to those trying to emigrate? What rights should American citizens have that non-citizens don't get? I appreciate the dialogue regarding all of that stuff. The racial profiling bit, notsomuch. I don't approve of it in airports, either.

And then there was Anderson Cooper. I love his tight t-shirts and the way he interviews people he disagrees with.

And that was all she wrote on May 13th...

What angers me about the spill is that BP hasn't made stopping the leak its #1 priority. They've made trying to harness the oil its #1 priority. That is unacceptable given the collateral damage --the destruction of the Gulf environment and commercial fishing in the Gulf. If the oil doesn't ruin the entire Gulf of Mexico for the next 20 years than it will be the toxic shit they're dumping in the water to "break up" the oil.

I am a liberal, but I believe we should offer blanket amnesty to all "illegals" in this country, but we should halt all immigration/naturalization for the next 20 years. Our Constitution was written at a time when we needed fast ways to convert people into Americans (through birth or migration). We have enough people in this country today. We don't have an economy to support the constant devaluing of wages and salaries that hiring undocumented workers brings. We need Americans working.

I just watched the Lost finale, and I feel really bitter about the last 10 minutes. I didn't need the show to be a purgatory/death show. That seems like the easy way out.

Happy belated birthday, Berlin....

We need an independent commission chock full of reliable thinkers and doers looking into the BP oil spill, and even then, it'll come to diddily-squat unless we change our ways.

Trying to get a good gut feel for how much oil has gushed up. BP's estimate of 5000 barrels per day now appears laughably small, and outside estimates range from 40,000 to 90,000.

How I'm thinking about it is to consider a small "5000 gallon" swimming pool - 15 foot in diameter filled 3-1/2 feet high with crude oil - stretching it out into a very long oval shape, and figuring out how far you'd have to slough through it to get to the other side.

30 days into it at 40,000 barrels per day you'd need to swim 25 miles down this 15 foot wide corridor, and it's stretching out almost another mile every day.

Freaking yikes! This will not turn out well. :(

Kinda see where you're coming from on the oil pipeline issue, but at the same time as long as people continue to use fossil fuels in massive quantities these accidents will happen :(
